OK, bear with me on this one!
I ordered two new chairs from WAYFAIR, a company I have used before, thinking previous good service would ensure the same this time. Each chair came in four pieces, so I was expecting two large boxes.
The courier WAYFAIR use is EVRI. Our local EVRI delivery driver, DENNIS, is fantastic, just what every delivery driver should be, so I wasn't expecting any problems.
I live in a small block of four flats which is accessed by an unlocked gate, as I live on the first floor, there are thirteen steps up to the landing where my flat is.
My health conditions cause me mobility problems, I am also deaf, so have a doorbell, so I can hear callers.
My first hint of a problem was when I received info that my delivery would be delivered to 'ground level' when it quite clearly states on my address that I live in a first floor flat. I asked Dennis about this and he assured me if the parcels came via him, he would bring them upstairs. He advised me to track them online.
Periodically I checked the EVRI app to see where the delivery was. I was out and my bathroom fitter, James, said that he would listen out for my doorbell being rung and the delivery being made.
Imagine my dismay, when I checked the delivery status, and found that the two large boxes had been dumped just inside the unlocked gate. They were left unsafe and blocking access and egress to my neighbours' two front doors!
I hurried home and asked James if anyone had rung the doorbell and was totally unsurprised when he said not. I explained where the unknown Evri driver had dumped the boxes and James, the bathroom fitter working at my flat, brought them upstairs. Oh! Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers!
What I can't understand is, if Dennis our fantastic local EVRI driver would bring them upstairs why didn't the 'unknown driver' do the same?
When both WAYFAIR and EVRI asked me for feedback, I gave it and gave them both barrels! I ticked the boxes indicating that I wanted them to contact me. Again, unsurprisingly they have not done any such thing.
When WAYFAIR delivered furniture previously they deliverd it to my front door, no problem. WAYFAIR sells lovely products which always come professionally packed so they don't arrive damaged, so why change their delivery policy? In this case it discriminates against me as a disabled customer.
OK, thanks for reading this far. What do you think? Should they have delivered it to my front door even though it was one floor up?
A big thanks to JAMES the bathroom fitter from Huddersfield who saved the day! ❤️❤️❤️
