I long for the stillness
of peace

the ghosts gather
around me

my pace slow and steady
snail like

top of the stair
the cats pause, looking for
marauders 

No. 5
older now
some wisdom acquired 
questions remain

No. 6
top of the stair
creaks with the weight
of unseen footsteps

No. 7
older now
the solace of silence
is balm to the soul

No. 8
top of the stair
pause, hold the rail tightly
fear of falling
