📚Book Review📚 – The Glass Maker by Tracy Chevalier

#book #review

Tracy Chevalier goes back to start her story about Murano glass to the 1400's.

She introduces us to the Rosso family, skilled glass makers, and in particular Orsoro, the young daughter of the family.

The author wrapped me into the story from page 1 and kept me reading long past bedtime.

I wasn' t sure about the time slip element of the story at first but soon realised it was a good device to use to tell the complete story of Murano glass through the eyes and point of view of Orsoro Rosso and her family right up to the present day.

It added a magical element to an already enthralling story. I liked the addition of real people from history woven into the fictional family.

The story looks at some big societal subjects, but without tedium. Having visited Venice and been gifted a genuine stamped Murano glass paperweight, I found the story interesting, informative, and engaging with a touch of magic!

☆☆☆☆☆ Highly recommended reading.
