In her book, The Sewing Machine, Natalie Fergie has written a charming, heartwarming story that is told through various characters in various time periods in Scotland.
Her characters are well drawn, and she uses the medium of a simple Singer sewing machine to interweave the various stories. I remember my mum having an old Singer hand cranked sewing machine before my dad insisted she buy a new electric model. So I found the story very relevant and enjoyed it very much.
