Jack Gatland's 'Letter from the Dead,' is a well plotted, well written crime novel. I liked his DI, Declan Walsh, and whilst 'The Last Chance Saloon' as a unit for misfits who are good coppers is a well worn police trope. I liked it anyway.
The story goes along at quite a pace, and I read it in one sitting as I was thoroughly gripped and entertained and wanted to get to the end to find out what happened.
All the characters are well drawn and believable. I enjoyed the political aspect of the story, too. The epilogue is a good set-up for Book 2.
