With our feet planted firmly on the
earth, we are grounded and balanced.
We are in the here and now, the
present moment which is all we have.
When we go up or down life's ladder;
we are in transition, unsteady, moving
from one step to the other, one foot
at a time, hanging on with our hands.
We are initiating or following change.
Which is a constant in our human life.
Change disturbs our equilibrium, makes
us unsteady on each rung of the ladder.
Yet time does not stand still so we move,
up or down as circumstance dictates.
Sometimes three steps forward, two
steps back, quickly or slow and steady.
Life itself is a balancing act; times when
we must act, and times of acceptance.
We learn that we have responsibility
only for ourselves and for our actions.
We may influence others but we do not
control them, especially our families.
We have to let things go and move on
with great kindness and compassion.
We forgive and are forgiven; we love
and are loved in return, self love and
acceptance of who we are is an act
of balance and grounding ourselves.
