In the outside world inside
my thirsty brain

takes words from songs,
myths and legends

myths and legends 
in English and Spanish
claw for attention

my gentle she-cat's paw
rests upon my arm

the silky sleeve that cools
in the heatwave

in the heatwave
the sun burns through clouds
leaves azure blue skies

leaves azure blue skies
on the horizon darker
blue sea connects

blue sea connects
hot sand underfoot, palm trees
give us blesséd shade

give us blesséd shade
in which to work out the words
