Forgiveness is for the forgiver
Only in letting go are we free.
Reality dictates our life events.
Given compassion we can choose
Initially to bear no ill will, but it is
Very hard to forget the hurt of
Every painful blow; betrayal can
Never be dismissed, a lesson learnt,
Even when pain burns very deeply.
So forgive but don't ever forget,
Show mercy but be kind to yourself.
