As we enter the UK's 5th heatwave of the year, keeping cool is essential. It is 31° outside but a manageable 23° in my flat. This is achieved by keeping my blinds closed in rooms where the sun is on them. As the sun travels around the flat I angle the blinds open for daylight and close others.
Did you know the only way cats can expel heat is through their paws? So a nice cooling mat helps them do this. While on the subject of cats another must is to ensure they stay hydrated. Why not buy a water fountain? Some of the new ones are made from medical grade stainless steel and are charged by WiFi. This means you can place them anywhere your cat likes to drink. They are whisper quiet. They have replaceable filters too. Probably best to buy them at the same time as you purchase the new water fountain.
Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated. Wear loose clothing preferably made from cotton. Kaftans are ideal for heatwaves!
Another must in the hot weather, please don't leave your doors and windows open. This is a time when opportunistic thieves come looking for 'easy pickings'.
Invest in a video doorbell camera which will capture movement outside your doors. They have wide angled lenses and even pick up my cats stealthy movements.
