Following Anthony Briscoe's fantastic Comedy Writing Workshop for Cultureword at HACK in Oldham, another Oldham venue was chosen for the Comedy Showcase, 1853 Studios in Westwood, Oldham.
Anthony was a brilliant compere who kept the comedic energy going in between each act. This is very importantĀ during a Comedy Showcase.
I think the audience was a little bit bewildered when a poet was allowed the penultimate spot, longer than everyone else and performed some serious and moving poetry. It was very good poetry but inappropriate on a Comedy Showcase. However, Anthony saved the day by raising the laughter level right back up.
