In a lifetime love comes and love goes.
A passion filled youth will give way to
Steady middle age, where nothing flows.
Then old age creeps in as it's want to do.
Death or divorce parts couples anew.
Children have children and move away.
Oh! How all those decades just flew.
In the blink of an eye, love did not stay.
When humankind have let us down,
We turn to pet animals for that love.
Strays whose affection won't breakdown
The love you will never be bereft of.
Pets' love is grateful and given with joy,
Cats and dogs, be they a girl or a boy!
