📚Book Review📚 – A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf

#book #review

A Room of One's Own by Virginia Woolfe was a book of it's time. Considered to be one of the best modernist writers, she has amalgamated two essays to produce this book.

Written in the stream of consciousness style it seems to chase its own tail down various 'rabbit holes.' The author's class shines through the prose making it sound quite snobbish. Virginia Woolfe also wrote an essay called, 'Am I a snob?'

The difficulties she outlines about why it is so difficult for women to write fiction or poetry are historically correct. I am glad she includes Emily Brontë in her list of great female novelists but she totally omits any mention of her talented poetry.

This was an interesting book to read but I did find it hard to get into. I will probably read one of her other books in the future.

☆☆☆☆recommended reading.
