💜✍️NaPoWriMo – 30 poems in 30 days – April 2026 – Day 15 – SEEKING LOVE – A TRIOLET ✍️💜

#napowrimo #poetry

And now for our prompt (optional, as always).  K. Siva Reddy’s poem, “A Love Song Between Two Generations,” weaves together repetitions, questions, and unexpected similes with plain language. The overall effect is both intimate and emotional, producing a long-form meditation on what love is, what it means, and how it acts.  Today, we’d like you to write your own poem that muses on love, but isn’t a traditional love poem in the sense of expressing love between romantic partners.

Happy writing!

*I chose my favourite Triolet form for this meander through the meaning of love, I think it contains the repetitions and questions well.*

SEEKING LOVE - A TRIOLET

Those first stirrings in the womb,
Is that where love begins?
From a tiny cell in its little tomb
Those first stirrings in the womb,
When a mother's love enters the room.
Is that where love begins?
Those first stirrings in the womb,
Is that where love begins?

Born of all those romantic trysts
Is love really quantifiable?
Is it chemistry or is it just diced,
Born of all those romantic trysts,
Each person trapped in their own vice.
Is love really quantifiable?
Born of all those romantic trysts
Is love really quantifiable?

Does it exist, is it matter or in the mind?
Why is pinning it down so elusive?
It can be cruel, self-serving or kind.
Does it exist, is it matter or in the mind?
When we are in love it is said to be blind.
Why is pinning it down so elusive?
Does it exist, is it matter or in the mind
Why is pinning it down so elusive?

The word love is used without care
We love, this, that and the other.
But loving each other is a dare,
The word love is used without care.
Loving the self, the ego laid bare
Is a start - perhaps the ultimate lover.
The word love is used without care
We love, this, that and the other.

We poets wax lyrical about the feeling,
But we are just as in the dark.
Love stirs our senses, starts our healing.
We poets wax lyrical about the feeling.
It is our passion - sends us reeling!
When it's fantastic, it hits the mark.
We poets wax lyrical about the feeling,
But we are just as in the dark.
