This, the 5th Book in the All Souls series, is where Deborah Harkness takes us back to Diana Bishop-Clarmont's continued development as a witch. In the Black Bird Oracle, Diana is summoned by the Proctor side of the family to visit Ravenswood.
Here, she discovers the secrets of her past and embarks upon the path of Shadow magic to keep her bright born twins, Beccy and Pip safe. Her relationship with her husband Matthew de Clermont is also tested with Diana's continued metamorphosis into a more powerful witch.
Deborah Harkness' wonderful storytelling and meticulous historical research into the Salem witch trials and families adds to her wonderful world building. I am so looking forward to Book 6, which, according to the author's Facebook page, is to be called: The Falcon and the Rose.
